The Project

El Proyecto

A four-bedroom residence at The Estates at Acqualina, one of the most coveted towers on the Atlantic shore of Sunny Isles Beach. This was the client's home in Miami: a young family who wanted a space that was fresh, welcoming, and livable. They receive guests, they have children, and they needed a home that could hold all of it without feeling crowded or compromised. Four bedrooms (master, daughter's room, boys' room and guest suite), each with its own personality. A family room designed to function as both a relaxed retreat and a social space. The brief was not renovation in the traditional sense. It was curation. New drop ceilings with architectural cove and perimeter lighting. Millwork integrated as a single composition. Italian furniture that reads as sculptural rather than merely functional. And six custom rugs, each a different interpretation of the same subject: the ocean visible from every room.

The ocean
as the brief.

El océano
como el brief.

Every room in this apartment faces the Atlantic. That fact was not the starting point. It was the constraint that became the concept. Six rugs, each designed by Lacruz Design Studio and handcrafted in Tibet by 4dSoul, translate the ocean into texture: a living room rug with stone-toned waves in aquamarine that mirror the water visible through the glass, and other rugs that shift in palette, density, and abstraction from space to space. The art followed the same logic. Stefano Curto's Evolution-Involution Blue Zircon, 92,000 crystals on Plexiglas, anchors the dining room with the same depth of blue the ocean carries at dusk. Samuel Dejong's rectangular blue piece marks the hallway as the transition between public and private. Cécile Plaisance's Chanel Jacket greets the master suite. None of these were afterthoughts. The art arrived before the furniture did.

The lighting is the architecture. New drop ceilings with cove and perimeter lighting define every social space, not as decoration, but as the structural layer that gives the millwork and furniture their weight. Pendants by Lasvit (Czech Republic) in the dining room. Hollis+Morris in the master bedroom. Vibia in the guest bedrooms. Downlights from Visual Comfort, Entra line, throughout. LED integrated into every millwork piece. Furniture is predominantly Italian: Minotti and Poltrona Frau for the primary pieces, complemented by Addison House. Terrace: Minotti outdoor collection. Six custom rugs designed by Lacruz Design Studio and handmade in Tibet by 4dSoul, each a chapter of the same ocean narrative. Art curated in collaboration with Galería Bartoux, Miami Design District.
